The national burger chain Smashburger is looking to open a new location in Apple Valley, according to a company spokesman.
The company is considering several lease locations, and it's still early in the process, spokesman Doug Thielen wrote in an email Tuesday.
Smashburger started in Denver in 2007, and has eight Minnesota locations, including one in Eagan.
In November 2011, Forbes magazine named Smashburger America's Most Promising Company; at the end of 2011, there were 143 restaurant locations nationwide and the company was planning an additional 450 franchises, the article says.
Apple Valley Patch will provide updates as they become available.
